More news from Creative Learning Connection

Several things to share with you.
(1) Spring Specials on www.CurrClick.com between now and April 5. Eighteen (18) additional great freebies and many specials, including 10% off our already low priced e-books there!

(2) Reminder of the Moms’ Meeting next week - Tuesday evening, March 30. Catherine Jaime will be speaking on “Multi-level Teaching” (or “How to keep your sanity while homeschooling many children.”) As a 28-year homeschooling veteran, and the mother of 12 children, she has plenty of experience in this area! Please RSVP at cmmjaime@alum.mit.edu or 256-325-3305.

(3) Next Used Book Sale: Used Books: Thursday, April 22. Set up is between 6 and 6:30, and the official selling time is from 7 to 9 p.m. Please share this information with other homeschoolers, parents, and teachers you know – since with these sales, it is definitely a case of “the more the merrier”. Please contact us at cmmjaime@alum.mit.edu or 256-325-3305 if you would like to reserve a table. There is no cost to participate, you will be manning your own table, and making your own sales.

We take used books, games, and other educational materials on consignment year-round (on Thursdays, or by appointment). We also like to host Used Book Sales in the spring and summer, where people can sell their own materials.

(4) If you live in the city of Madison, and have a graduating senior, you may want to see the Madison Optimist Club’s scholarship program; details given below.

Home School Cover Letter
For Optimists Scholarship Contest for 2010

This letter announces the Madison Optimist Club’s program to provide $1000 no strings attached scholarships to financially needy high school seniors for the academic year beginning in the fall of 2010. The scholarships will be awarded to students whose home-of-record are within the city of Madison and Madison County and can be used for any post high school career development schooling. While financial need will be the primary selection criterion, academic achievement, community contributions, school and community activities participation, reference letters, and the quality of the scholarship application letter are other important selection criteria. The enclosed score sheet and scoring criteria may be helpful to student applicants.

In order to allow the committee sufficient time to review applications, we request that you have your school’s application letters, including the students’ academic reports, test scores, etc. and any letters of recommendation, returned to us on 23 April 2010. Winners will be announced and contacted by 1 May 2010.

We would like you and the winners and their parents or guardians to join the Club for dinner on a date and place to be designated. You will be contacted with this information.

If you have any questions about this program or the application materials, please let us know by calling Richard Pendleton at 256-497-8434 (CP Primary) or 256-325-3202 (Home Secondary), sending him an email to catsailor09@yahoo.com or contacting Robert Mahan at 256-325-4071 (Office), 256-658-5912 (CP) or sending him an email at optimist@rmahan.com.

Thanks for your time and assistance in helping a deserving student attend college.

We look forward to working with you on this project.

Sincerely,
Richard F. Pendleton, Robert Mahan
