We had a great turnout at our last Used Book Sale. But, if you missed it, or still have books to buy or sell, don’t worry, we still have two more scheduled for this summer. Our next Used Book Sale is tonight, Monday evening, July 14th and the next one is Thursday evening, August 18th. More details are available on the website: www.CreativeLearningConnection.com It is not too late to sign up for a table, or to make plans to attend. (Set up is 6 – 6:30 p.m., sale is 7 – 9 p.m.)

Fall 2008 Classes for Younger Students:
Class Title: Exploring Science! Instructor: Heather Clanton-Sample
Grades/Ages - 9 -11 year olds; 4th-5th grade Day: Mondays Time: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Class Description: Who ever knew that Science could be so fun?! Come explore the fun of God's creation as we work through a year worth of Science together. This class will cover all topics/concepts needed for a year of Science. Parents will receive a syllabus and guidelines for their child to follow throughout the week. We will meet once a week for 1-1/2 hours to learn, discuss, have group activities, and take part in experiments together. What better way to learn Science than with a group of fellow peers to enhance a more hands-on approach. For those wishing to only take one semester, the class will cover the requirements for Fall. Each child will receive all materials needed for the class including a textbook and worksheet packet. Fees: $75.00 for one semester or $110.00 for the entire year.

Class Title: Art and Craft Creations Age: 5-12 Instructor: Betty J. Wilson Instructor's Credentials: Retired Teacher, BA-Art, MS-Psychology Day/Dates/Time: All classes will meet from 1:00-3:00 PM on the following Mondays: Aug 4, Sept 15, Oct 6, and Nov 3. Brief Description: A 2 hour class of mixed media involving drawing, painting, print making, craft making, paper mosaics, paper collage, and foil art. Class Title: Treasures Instructor: Susie Cagle Day/Date 4th Monday, September through March (not including December) Times: Sept 8, 3:15 – 4:15 P.M. Description: Treasures includes a hands-on study of the 50 states and capitals, the preamble, the 13 Original Colonies, the United States Constitution, all 43 presidents of the U.S., Eastern and Western Hemisphere facts, the solar system, the 10 commandments. During class each child is provided with an assortment of manipulatives, such as silly putty, cars, trucks, airplanes, animals, and colored chips. These manipulatives are used during the class activities to teach the concepts. Each child may also complete handouts which reinforce the concepts. Children who complete the handouts and prepare a project will receive a certificate of participation along with a beautiful trophy during the month of April. These projects will be entered for display along with other Treasures’ participants. Cost: $50 for the year (6 month) per family. Class Title: The Novels of Jane Austen Age or Grade: High School and mature Junior High Students Instructor: Vicki Drude, MA Day/Dates/Times: Thursdays 10 am- 12 noon, starting September 18 Brief Description: An introduction to six works by one of the greatest novelists of the English language. This 8-week course will cover all six of the novels; students will be required to read Pride and Prejudice and two others of their choice. Classes will consist of lecture and discussion. Major types of literary criticism will be introduced, and students can also expect to gain a basic understanding of Regency England’s culture as reflected by its greatest writer.
