Upcoming events at CLC, and in Community
February 9, 2008
Just wanted to let everyone know about some upcoming events both at CLC and in the area. This upcoming week, February 11 – 16, we will be hosting 2 fundraisers for the WHCS Government Club – A Silent Auction and a Scholastic Book Fair – both Monday – Saturday, 12 – 5 p.m. A great time to get some great deals, and to help the Govt. Club. Speaking of good deals, we have a few of the huge White Boards left, though they are going quickly. We have 1 left of the 3 feet x 5 feet size ($10) and several left of the 4 feet x 6 feet size ($20, or 2/$30) Our Used Book inventory continues to grow almost daily – we currently accept consignment items any afternoon we’re open, except Wednesdays. We will also host our first Used Book Sale of the season on Thursday evening, March 27th (more details, and sign up, closer to the event!) Other exciting March News – Our Art teacher, Betty Wilson, is starting a new Watercolor Class for students ages 10 – 15. The first 2 classes will be March 17 and March 20 from 1 – 3 p.m. Each class costs $12 (a student may take either or both), and we will be taking sign ups/payment at the store. *** A Voice of the Martyrs missionary, Darcie Gill, will be speaking in our area several times during the month of February (Darcie’s biographical information available at www.vommeetings.com): Ladies Meeting, Tuesday, Feb 19, 10:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 4554 Research Park Rd, Huntsville, AL Saturday, February 23, 10:30-12:00 Asbury Methodist, 980 Hughes Road, Madison, Al. Praying for the Persecuted Church ( Free workshop. Sign up at http://www.asburyumc.ws/GICReg/signup.cfm ) Sunday, February 24, 6:00 p.m. Shoals Creek Baptist church, 1077 Shoals creek Road, Decatur, AL 35603 *** If you’re looking for sports opportunities for your students this spring, AYSO is doing registration again for Spring Soccer for a couple more weeks (we have several children who play AYSO soccer). Also, if you are looking for something different – Huntsville has a Lacrosse league again this spring. Huntsville Youth Lacrosse enters its second season. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the USA. The Huntsville program recognizes its a new sport to the community, so the coaches are intentional in introducing it to our youth with a long term view to making it an enjoyable experience. There are still openings for Boys U11 and Girls of all ages. Go to www.huntsvillelax.org/spring-season/ for more information. (We have a son playing U13 this spring.)
