January Classes at Creative Learning Connection

Join us for some of our upcoming events
(And remember, classes are half price for Supporting

One-time Events:
Supreme Court Workshop
Monday, January 12th, 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. This workshop will
deal with the history of the Supreme Court, the
Constitution, and the importance of both in our government.
It is aimed at junior high and high school students and
costs $8.00.
Shakespeare Workshop
Monday, January 12th, 4:00 – 5:30 P.M. This workshop will
look at who Shakespeare was, when he lived, and why we
study what he wrote. It is aimed at junior high and high
school students and costs $8.00.
Math Fun Time
Friday, January 16th, 1:30 – 3:00 P.M. This afternoon time
will be spent “playing with numbers” – games and other
numerical activities to acquaint students with number fun.
It is aimed at students 6 – 11 years-old, and costs $5.00.
Civil Rights Workshop
Monday, January 19th, 10:00 A.M. – 12 Noon. This workshop
will look at the Civil Rights Movement of the 50’s and
60’s, and in particular Alabama’s role in it. It is aimed
at students 7 and up, and costs $10.00.
History of the English Bible Workshop
Friday, January 23rd, 1:30 – 3:30 P.M. This workshop will
trace the Bible from its original languages through its
journey into English.
Pearl Harbor Workshop
Tuesday, January 27th, 1:30 – 3:30 P.M. This workshop will
look at the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and the U.S.’s
consequent entry into World War 2. This workshop is aimed
at students 7 and up, and costs $10.00
Origami
Friday, January 30th, 1:30 – 3:00 P.M. Come and learn the
joy of origami. Aimed at students 8 and up and costs
$8.00.
Ongoing Events:
Chess Club
Continues on Wednesdays, 3:00 – 4:00 P.M. Cost is
$2.50/student.
Shakespeare Classes
New classes beginning on Monday afternoons, starting
January 26th, from 4:00 – 5:30 P.M. For students ages 12
and up, cost is $4/class. We will be reading, discussing,
and watching many of the classics (Hamlet, Taming of the
Shrew, Henry V, etc.). MUST be registered for in advance.
Constitution Classes
New classes beginning on Monday afternoons, starting
January 26th, from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. For junior high and
high school students, cost is $3/week. We will be looking
at major Supreme Court cases throughout history, and their
connection to the Constitution. Much of the class will be
using DVD’s from The Teaching Company.
