February News at Creative Learning Connection

Wow! It’s hard to believe February has already begun.
We’ve spent the entire month of January moving the store,
but it has been well worth it. If you haven’t come by and
seen the new place yet, please stop by. You’ll be amazed
at how much bigger and better the new space is! (We’re
still in the same building we were, but on the other side,
facing the big parking lot, across from Asbury Thrift
Store.)
Our regular hours continue to be Monday – Thursday, 12 – 5
p.m., but we will also be open at least one Friday and
Saturday each month.
We have several exciting events coming up in February:
Monday, February 12 – Saturday, February 17 we will be
hosting another Scholastic Book Fair as a fundraiser for
the WHCS Govt Club. This is a great opportunity to choose
from even more great books, to help out a group of great
teens, and even another weekend opportunity to shop at CLC!
We will be open on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 19th.
In fact, we are hosting a very exciting event that day.
Several of my children have worked with Youth with a
Mission (YWAM) over the last decade, and they do some
exciting things to bring the gospel to different parts of
the world, and to share that with families across the U.S.
On February 19th, we will be hosting a team of YWAMers who
will present The Race at CLC. This is a two hour program
that is targeted for students and adults to give them a
vision of what missions is like and where the church is in
China and Morocco.
There will be three different activities for both China and
Morocco,
designed to give the participants a feel that they have
been to the countries, know a little about the culture, and
what is going on with mission work there. The activities
include a game, a cultural experience typical of that
country, and a prayer time.
After the group has visited all the activities in each of
the countries, we will reconvene for a brief general
session where we will present a brief missions challenge.
The Race is Monday, February 19th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at
Creative Learning Connection. Your family will be blessed
by this experience. Please contact me at
cmmjaime@alum.mit.edu or 256-325-3305 if you are planning
to attend, and give me an approximate headcount. We have a
maximum capacity of 80 for this, so please don’t wait to
sign up if you are interested. There is no cost to attend,
but we will be taking a love offering to help YWAM cover
their expenses as they travel to bring programs such as
these, and as they prepare to carry the gospel overseas.
I hope to have information soon on a CEF opportunity for
young people, and sign up information on our next Club
Inventions, but those will come out in another newsletter!
