Answers in Genesis Homeschool Freebie of the Day  We all like freebies -- and here is an easy way to get several nicely done freebies each week.  Sign up for the newsletter, and you will receive a weekly newsletter giving you the details on that week's free downloads.   * * * * * The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Raising Real Men Timberdoodle Company Timberdoodle is a family business serving homeschoolers since 1985 -- and we've beeen buying great products from them for almost that long.  A great place to find other "out of the box" educational options. * * * * * Notgrass Company The Notgrass Company is another wonderful homeschool family business.  We've only known this Tenessee family since we moved to Alabama more than 12 years ago.  Most (if not all) of what they carry is original material.  We have used much of it, and have always enjoyed it.  * * * * * Dover Publications Dover has been our favorite source of coloring books and inexpensive literature books for many years.  Almost every Unit Study we've ever done has been supplemented with one more Dover coloring books.  (If you aren't familiar with these, you are in for a treat...They are not your run of the mill coloring books!) * * * * * Out of the Box Games We love games...for entertainment and for education.  And Out of the Box makes many of our family favorites.  Long before we started our business, we were playing and enjoying their games.... * * * * * Letterboxing Recently we were introduced by friends to letterboxing, which reminds me of a cross between a scavenger hunt and the volksmarching we used to love in Germany.  We have only been letterboxing for just over four months – but we’ve already had some great times with it, and look forward to finding many, many more letterboxes!  In the first four months, the Jaimes have found 45 letterboxes in 7 states and the Fullers have found 54 letterboxes in 6 states. The two best places we’ve found for more information, as well as clues to letterboxes all over the country, are:  www.letterboxing.org and www.atlasquest.com.     * * * * * Youth in Government Program An important part of our High School Government "curriculum" is participation in the YMCA's Youth in Government program.  Every fall we go to Montgomery to participate in the Mock Trial (Youth Judicial) competition, and every spring we go down for the Youth Legislature event. True "hands on" experiences. * * * * * Foundation for Economic Education When it comes to economic information, I have never seen a group like FEE.  Our family has been enjoying their monthly magazine, Ideas on Liberty, for almost 20 years.  If you feel like you need a better economic education, or need a great resoucrce for your high schooler, check out this group and their informative website.  * * * * * U.S. House of Representatives Our congressmen and women work for us!  We need to keep up with the legislation they are working on, and make sure they know our postions.  The internet has made it easy to find and contact them.  * * * * * U.S. Senate If you have not been commnicating regularly with your states' two senators, here's an easy way to find them and begin.  Emails, phone number, and fax numbers are all readily available here.  * * * * * Amazon My favorite place to shop for new books...Amazon is generally the first place I go when I need something specific for a study I'm doing.
