The 107 questions and answers in the Shorter Catechism are not easy to teach or to learn (but then many worthwhile things fit in that category!).It was written over 350 years ago and has withstood the test of time.It was put together by “The Assembly of Divines at Westminster with the assistance of Commissioners from the Church of Scotland” for the purpose of “catechizing such as are of weaker capacity.”As such, it is a wonderful introduction to the reformed doctrine for adults and children alike.
We believe the doctrinal foundation it provides is exceptional.
Our family has been blessed by memorizing the Questions and Answers in the Westminster Shorter Catechism.Even my 3-year-old knows some of the answers. But after awhile we got stuck, and the kids were having trouble remembering the next set of answers. This study set came out of a need for tools to help improve that process.
The reproducible notebook contains over 100 pages with the history of the Shorter Catechism and
1) the Shorter Catechism itself; 2) the Shorter Catechism with lines for writing out the answers under each answer; 3) the Shorter Catechism with the questions and lines to practice writing out the answers without looking at them; 4) the last section is the 107 questions broken down into 19 related sections, with each section in 2 different “cloze word puzzles”.These are a neat way to work on memorizing something – every 6th or 10th word has been left out, and is listed in a box at the bottom of the page. The student reads over the questions and answers, and fills in the missing words.
Additionally, a set of 107 flash cards are included for each question and answer set. These can be used for review by individual students or multiple students working together.
