2)A planets worksheet to fill out as you study each planet and an astronomers worksheet to fill out as you study each astronomer.With these worksheets, the students are encouraged to some basic research.It is not an overwhelming amount, but enough to get them going that direction!
3)Several word searches and crossword puzzles; a fun addition to the study.
4)A timeline that shows you highlights from the history of astronomy.I give each student a copy of the timeline either at the end of the study or at the beginning.I actually find that a timeline is most helpful for me at the beginning, as we are preparing to start a study, and for them at the end, when they are finishing the study, and can use it as review.
5)A timeline game – good for introducing the topic, and for reviewing later.Everyone will be amazed at how much easier it is to play at the end of the study than it was at the beginning.
6)Pictures from Dover Coloring Books of several of the planets, astronomers, etc. The coloring books themselves are very inexpensive, and are highly recommended as one of your first History of Astronomy purchases!
Everything in the unit study is reproducible for use with a family or a class.(Dover Coloring Books are also reproducible for use with your family or class….I can only include a few pictures to show you what they are like, but you may buy one of each coloring book, and freely copy them to use with your students.And in the coloring books, you not only get great pictures, you also get small bite-sized pieces of information with each picture.Not bad for a $4.00 investment.)
