But now for a personal note, from my heart to yours:
We've shared with many of you over the last six months or so of our struggle to keep Creative Learning Connection operational. For six months of the year, we generally have no trouble paying all the bills that the store generates (rent, utilities, phone, copier, website...) But during the other six months of the year, when homeschoolers (our main customer base) are doing less shopping, all of those bills get really tough to pay. We are quickly approaching the end of our eighth year of operation, and each year, we have wondered how much longer we can afford to do this? In addition to all of the money I charge for classes going back into the store each month, our family supports CLC, out of pocket, to the tune of more than $8,000/year. Because the work we do in the homeschooling community is so important to us, we've been willing to do that for much longer than we had ever thought possible. And our heart is certainly to keep CLC open beyond 2011. But the sad reality is, it takes a fairly large amount of money each month to keep our doors open. (And that is with none of us taking a salary -- in case you've wondered, all of us you see at CLC are volunteering our time and effort.)
We have been blessed by God in the last year with money from on-line book sales that we had never expected, and that certainly helped pay some of our extra 2010 bills. And we have been blessed at CLC often during the last six months by book donations and financial donations from friends and acquaintances who share our vision for maintaining a place to help new and struggling homeschoolers in the area and around the world. (We have been blessed to assist missionaries homeschooling in Brazil, Turkey, China, and India, to name just a few.) But we have been asked to make it easier for people to make donations, big or small, when they have the ability. So we're installing a paypal donate button here for that purpose. We do not want to "beg" for money, by any means, but merely to give others of you the ability to help us keep the doors open here at Creative Learning Connection.
Unfortunatley, any donations are not tax-deductible since we are only "non-profit" in a practical sense, not a legal sense!

Since this is a family operation, we thought you might enjoy a few pictures from our various family adventures. The above picture includes Mom, Dad, our seven sons, our five daughters, and our three daughter-in--laws at our most recent wedding.
One of our sons came up with a family bonding experience -- caving in Fort Payne, Alabama. Here we are just before entering the cave.
